Michigan’s own Genavieve Linkowski advanced to the next stages on American Idol. Her audition that aired last week showed Linkowski receiving that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood.
Linkowski stopped by the studio again to tell us about something the challenges she faced and lessons learned while filming ‘American Idol.” She has learned a lot over the course of the show and was put to the test in a lot of ways. One thing she didn’t expect to be so hard was saying goodbye to the friends made during the competitive singing show. ” You get close with your fellow constants, and people leave before other people do. It’s just really sad. ”
The 19 year-old singer has been facing hardships and obstacles her entire life. It all began with her mother becoming very sick. “The hospital was an hour and a half away, so she would be gone all day long. If she wasn’t doing that she was also helping my Grandpa who was also sick. ” Back and forth to the hospital for multiple family members over the years and switching roles between daughter, pseudo-parent to all her siblings, and even being a construction worker when their ceiling fell (literally;) Linkowski didn’t have time to pursue her music passion early -on. “[Back then] I didn’t really have the passion for music that I do not, but I didn’t know I had it. I didn’t exactly have time to figure it out!”
(Her mother has started her own business since then, Healthy Treats Factory and is using it to raise money towards Linkowski’s career and her quickly advancing reach. To learn more about Healthy Treats Factory, click HERE. Every purchase goes towards the management of Genavieve.)
Once Genavieve’s life seemed to settle down, that’s when the whirlwind with music started. The journey to Idol began with a bad break-up, like any true artist. She was fueled and needed an outlet. A producer found her letting out emotion at a thriftshop in Flint, MI. This is what he heard.
The rest is history and still in the making. Miss Linkowski is moving on to the next stages in the competition. Continue to follow her journey through the ranks by watching “American Idol” on Sunday and Monday nights on ABC. Watch her extended interview here!
